Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
An important representative said the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
